Position Description

Founded in 2008, The Hope Learning Center consists of multiple western Pennsylvania campuses
offering outpatient physical, speech, occupational and applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy, as
well as a privately licensed academic school, early learning childcare, and consultative services for
school districts and private companies. The company’s non-profit arm, The Hope for Autism
Foundation, seeks to educate and assist the public on Autism Spectrum Disorder.


The Hope Learning Center is seeking a full-time certified school nurse to provide care for students
that require medical attention during school. The nurse must have the ability to respond to children
K-12 that are injured or suffer from an illness. This position will be based out of Wexford but may
require frequent assistance at the Conway and Canonsburg locations. Services may also be
required through the public school system in which the private school is located in the Pine Richland,
Peters Township or Freedom area.


Minimum Qualifications
● Experience working with individuals with developmental delays
● Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
● Act 34 State Criminal History Clearance
● Act 114 FBI Clearance
● Act 168 Clearance
● Mandated Reporter Training
● CPR/First Aid
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
● Appropriate Standard Pennsylvania School Nurse Certificate

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Provide care to K-12 students that require medical attention
● Assess the overall condition of an injured or ill child and taking appropriate action, providing
skillful management of childhood emergencies until additional assistance is available.
● Make appropriate assessment and referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated
reporter.
● Responsible for maintaining student medical records in the school building where the student
attends school and ensure the original student medical record follows students if they
transfer to another school.
● Maintain proper communication with parents, in office staff and supporting healthcare
professionals.
● Promote a safe and healthy school environment.
● Responsible for providing support in toileting and personal care.
● Provide assistance as a para educator as needed which can include but are not limited to
being a bus aide, classroom support etc.
● All other duties as assigned by the nursing management staff.

● Ability to communicate information to students, parents, colleagues and 3rd parties
effectively, and to timely monitor and report on developments
● Exercises sound judgment and exhibits strong decision-making and problem solving skills
● Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with key internal and
external stakeholders, clients and the public
● Displays exceptional interpersonal communication and leadership skills
● Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team
● Results-oriented and self-starter who is able to effectively work within deadlines
